Obituary for Steven Alan Putman It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Alan Putman. Steve, a Battle Creek native, was born September 6, 1961. He passed away peacefully at Glen Arbor Hospice of Battle Creek on March 1, 2019.

He leaves his wife Tinna Payne-Putman and son from his first wife Anna Putman-Wilson, Willie Carl Putman of Clermont, FL; his parents, Willard “Bill” and Patricia Ann Putman, Jr.; sister, Patricia Putman; brothers, David Randall and Matthew Charles Putman; his loving extended family his stepdaughters, Tosha, Melissa, and Bonnie Loyd from his 2nd wife Pam; stepdaughter, Tasha Marie Payne and stepson, David Earl Payne II from his surviving wife Tinna; 15 grandchildren; and 3 ½ great grandchildren, the last due in August 2019. He was preceded in death by his 2nd wife of 8 years, Pam Loyd-Putman. Steve, following a family tradition, was employed at CN Railroad as a locomotive engineer.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 1984 and was honorably discharged as an E4. Steve’s greatest joy was his family. He raised his grandson Aaron Stevenson and granddaughter McKinzey Burke Payne.

When work allowed, you could find Steve at Tinna’s pool matches, Willie’s baseball games, Breton’s football games, McKinzey’s band concerts, and harassing Aaron over his video games. He was very proud of his granddaughter Savanah Putman’s acceptance into ACIS in Europe where she will receive softball training by Olympians. He was the favorite Uncle and Grandfather.

Steve was the rock that friends and family sought when they questioned their life choices or just needed to talk. He was devoted to his parents, spending as much time as he could with them. Steve loved music and spent many hours with his brothers-in-law, Jeff Stevens, and Bob, Bill, and Donny Loyd as they played guitar and snag.

He was a man of unconditional love, for family and friends. Steve will be missed. Visitation for Steve will be held Thursday, March 7th from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service.
