GLENFIELD- Stuart M. Salmon, 70, of McConnell Road, passed away on Sunday evening, December 2, 2018 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitaion Center, Boonville. Stuart was born on May 9, 1948 in Lewis County, NY, a son of the late Melville A. and Rosalia Winter Salmon. He graduated from South Lewis Central School in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

He served from 1967 – 1971, when he was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant. In 1972 he began working at Kraft in Lowville as a refrigeration specialist. From 1974-1976 he lived in Texas and worked for Texas Instruments.

From 1976-1979 he was a Deputy Sheriff at the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department. He then worked as store manager for Ames Department Store in Lowville, and later worked for Wick’s Lumber, Watertown for several years as a salesman. On July 10, 2010, he married Susan Demo Thomas at Greig Military Park with Town Justice Owen Williams, officiating.

Stuart was a member of the Greig United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Lowville American Legion Post #162. He was an honored guest of the Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, Lowville VFW, where he shared his carpentry skills helping to build the bar at the post.

His memberships also included AmVets, Lewis County Marine Corps League, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the NRA. Stuart was a certified scuba diver, he sang with the Islanders Barber Shop Chorus, Watertown, and was a member of Lowville Masonic Lodge #134 F & AM. He played guitar in a band during the 1970’s & 1980’s called The Village.

He enjoyed camping, playing guitar, cooking and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; daughters, Tanya MaryRose and her companion Jim Goodenbery of Adams, Casie (Ryan) Kolenda of Lowville, from his first marriage to Ramona Jones; Danielle (Gary) Rudisill of Lincolnton, NC, Charlotte Tucker of Lincolnton, NC; seven grandchildren, Kindrie, Devin, Emma, Kally, Thomas, Samantha, and Mara; a brother, Richard (Barb) Salmon of Alabama; a sister, Norma Parks of Texas; a brother-in-law, Joe Doviak of North Carolina; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a sister Beverly Doviak.

The funeral with Military Honors will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held privately by the family. A gathering at the Lowville American Legion Post #162 will immediately follow the funeral.
