OBITUARY Susan Jean Southwick April 26, 1964 – November 22, 2018 Susan was born on April 26, 1964 in Tampa, Florida to Nathan and Norma (Forbes) Silas and was raised in the Seffner/Mango, Florida area. She attended Brandon High School and was a member of the Class of ’82. Among the places where Susan was employed over the years was Poor Folks restaurant, where she met her future husband, Paul, who asked for Susan (his favorite waitress) by name on his frequent visits.

She later worked as a dispatcher at the Tampa Police Department before becoming a full-time mother to her two children, Kyle and Justin. In her later years she began a long career as a Realtor, culminating at Century 21 Executive Team, where she quickly became part of their family. Susan was an extremely devoted wife to Paul and a very protective “Mama Bear” to Kyle and Justin, the loves of her life.

She loved the mountains of North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee and the family spent many summers there on vacation. Susan was a very fun-loving person and had many friends who shared in her love and happiness. She was also a very giving person who welcomed anyone into her home and won them over with her fantastic cooking.

No person who visited Susan ever left hungry. Susan first contracted breast cancer in 2013, fought a hard fight through chemotherapy and radiation, and beat it hands-down. We were shocked to learn in February 2018 that the breast cancer had returned.

She fought hard again, through chemotherapy and radiation, and we thought the cancer was under control. Unfortunately, the cancer was very aggressive, metastasized to other areas, and could no longer be controlled. Susan is survived by her husband, Paul, sons Kyle and Justin, her beloved dog, Frosty, brothers Nathan (LaMor), Kenneth (Jane), and sister, Sherrie (Bobby) Saliva.

She also has four nieces, three nephews, and several sisters and brothers-in-law. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to Life Path Hospice, Hillsborough/Pasco. There will be no graveside services.
