Susan Sweet Hars, 60, of Pittsgrove, NJ peacefully passed away on January 5, 2019 surrounded by her daughters and brother. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, teacher and friend. Her cheery and positive disposition was infectious and provided a standard for all of us to live by.

Susie B. Sweet or Momma Hars as she was commonly known as, lived a selfless life and gave her all to her students and those around her. She graduated from Wellsboro High School in 1976 and Lock Haven University in 1980 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. Susie taught in Athens, PA, Pittsgrove, NJ and most recently was a gym teacher at the J. Harvey Rodgers School in Glassboro, NJ for the last seventeen years.

In addition to being an outstanding athlete, she was an avid sports fan who was often found on the sidelines of Schalick High School or supporting the NY Giants and Yankees. She was previously inducted into the Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame and was awarded Teacher of the Year for both Glassboro Public Schools and Pittsgrove Township School District. Susie was born on August 24, 1958 to Lloyd “Bill” and Joan Sweet and was the wife of Michael K. Hars for 35 years.

She is survived by her daughters Alyssa and Kerry and dog Gracie of Pittsgrove, NJ; brother Phill (Susan) Sweet of Wellsboro, PA; sister Sally (Chris) Cooney of Athens, PA; mother-in-law Lorraine Hars of Rockaway, NJ; brother-in-law Patrick (Laura) Hars of Mt. Olive, NJ; brother-in-law Bruce (Diane) Hars of Alexandria, LA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and her father-in-law Michael A. Hars.

Services have been planned at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home in Wellsboro, PA on Saturday January 12, 2019. Family will receive friends and relatives from 12-2pm with a service to follow. Burial will be at Wellsboro Cemetery.

A celebration of life gathering will be planned in New Jersey at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a Scholarship Fund Honoring Mike and Sue Hars has been established with Schalick High School. If desired, memorials may be made out to Schalick High School 718 Centerton Road, Pittsgrove, NJ 08318.
