Susan Woodley November 07, 1942 – April 26, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook A daughter was born to Lucy Fields and Roger Burwell on November 7, 1942 in Henderson, North Carolina. They named their beautiful gift from God, Susan (Big Sue). They rejoiced with gladness, for God had given them an Angel.

She entered eternal peace on April 26, 2019. Shortly after her birth, Susan’s family moved to New York. She received her education at Yorkville High School and proceeded to start and raise a family of her own.

Susan’s larger than life personality made her a vibrant light in her community. Susan enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a caterer at the Cavendish Club and was known for her Parrot Pie and Macaroni and Cheese dishes.

She enjoyed a good card game of Spades and Bid Whist. She also enjoyed being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; Daughters of Ruth 142. Susan was a kind and caring woman and a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

She was such a good spirit, friends were embraced as family. As a mother, Susan could be strict when needed but also knew how to have fun with her kids. She took joy in the holidays and family parties.

She always cooked your favorite food (which was whatever she had cooked that day) and made sure you took food home with you. Susan leaves behind to cherish her with loving memories: partner, Tyrone; two sons, Nigel and Wakiem; seven daughters, Maria, Renee, Gwen, Darnell, Cherise, Yolanda and Kisha; twenty-seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two sons-in-law, James and Casey; one daughter-in-law, Roxanne; one sister, Katherine Fort; one brother, Sam Fort; three nephews; three nieces; her beloved, Valentine Jenny; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Susan will be joining her husband, three sons, one daughter, three grandsons, one granddaughter and one great grandson who preceded her in death.
