Sylvia Keller Tate, Bonner Springs, KS, passed away while surrounded by her loving family on April 24, 2018, at the age of 99. Born Dec. 10, 1918, in Page City, KS, Sylvia was one of 11 children born to Oliver and Irene Keller.

She graduated from Page City High School, where she lettered in basketball all 4 years and was team captain for 2 years. During WWII Sylvia worked in an airplane factory. She spent 22 years as office manager for Mid-Continent Underground Storage company.

In 1974, she joined the City of Bonner Springs as Treasurer, retiring in 1984. Sylvia was the Business & Professional Women’s Foundation Woman of the Year in 1982. She enjoyed spending time with family and with her many friends at the Bonner Springs Senior Center.

An ardent KU basketball fan, she never missed a game–up to and including the 2018 Final Four. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings. She is survived by son Ronald G. Tate (Janice) of Shawnee, KS; sister Maxine Keller Berry, Monument, KS; two grandchildren, Kimi Tate Gingrich (Jack), Olathe, KS, and Scott Tate (Cheryl), Lake City, CO; 2 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation from 2-3pm Sun. , April 29, at Johnson County Memorial Chapel. Interment and private burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Bonner Springs Senior Center.
