Tammy Howell-McCaslin, age 59, of Royal, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019. She was born on July 5, 1959, in Hot Springs, the daughter of the late Ed “Red the Candy Man” and Claire “Susie” Howell. She was born and raised in Hot Springs and was a 1977 graduate of Lake Hamilton High School.

She played trombone throughout her high school career. Tammy was a renaissance woman of sorts, working many different jobs in and around the Garland County Courthouse, most recently a personal property assessor. A breast cancer survivor, Tammy supported and attended many “Race for the Cure” events and marathons.

She spent her time camping, hiking, line-dancing, and doing anything else that her granddaughters wanted her to do. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian Baxter of Pine Bluff; granddaughters, Summer and Sara Bassford; brother and sister-in-law, David and Charlotte Howell of Hot Springs; nephews, Sean Akins, Adam Howell, and Ethan Howell, as well as extended family and a host of wonderful friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs with Pastor Shawn Cuthbertson officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in McDowell Cemetery, Royal. Pallbearers will be Emmett McCaslin, Robert Bassford, Patrick Jones, Eddie Vaughn, Dennis Ward, and Joey Varney Guest registry is at www.
