Kijewski, 91, of 351 South Willow Street, concluded her journey in this life on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 8:54 am in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Ashland on October 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence (Griscavage) Chango. She married the love of her life, the late Peter Kijewski on Thanksgiving day, November 25, 1948 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mount Carmel.

They would have been married 70 years this month, Pete preceded her in death on May 4, 2012. Theresa attended Mount Carmel High School and was a member of Divine Redeemer Church in Mount Carmel. In Theresas younger years she was last employed by Lenn-Jeff garment factory in Kulpmont as a floor lady.

Theresa, also known as Chuchi, was the matriarch of her little family. She had a strong Catholic faith. Chuchi showed kindness, compassion, and love to all who crossed her path, especially her family.

Chuchi was loved so dearly and had a heart of gold. Theresa enjoyed baking, playing bingo and cards with her friends. She also loved long conversations on the phone.

But spending time with her family and young nephews is what she seemed to really enjoy the most, she loved every single one of them. Surviving are a beloved brother, Joseph Chango and his wife Barbara of New Jersey. A nephew, who was like a son to her, David Kijewski and his wife Joanne and their two daughters, who were like Chuchis granddaughters, Denise Kijewski and her partner Ed Mikulski and their son Danny.

Lisa Kijewski-Womer and her husband Paul Womer and their two children David and Sullivan. She treasured Danny, David and little Sully. They brought continuous joy into her life.

Chuchi was an amazing woman who was such an important figure in our life. She was a mother to us all. Theresa is also survived by a niece, Robin Smith and her husband Mike and their two children, Michael Smith and his wife Megan and Dustin Smith; a nephew, Joseph Chango; a niece Cindy Palovich and her husband Mickey and their two children Ashley and Michael; a cousin Jackie Griscavage and her children; a very dear friend Nancy Ambrose and her husband Joe as well many more nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Pete and Theresa’s dear sister, Jean Kijewski. FUNERAL NOTICE Theresa C. Kijewski, 91, of 351 S. Willow Street, Mount Carmel – Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Father Ryan Fisher, officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.

Viewing will be held Monday morning from 8:30 – 9:45 with Transferal Prayers at 9:00 am in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, Supervisor. To send condolences to the family please visit www.
