Thomas C. Allsopp, Jr., 72, passed away Friday evening, February 15, 2019 at his home. Mr. Allsopp was born on October 9, 1946 in Pasadena, CA, a son of the late Thomas Carl, Sr. and Genevieve Louise (McGuire) Allsopp. Thomas was a 1965 graduate of North Lima High School, where he earned All Inter-County laurels for the football team.

He was also a local standout performer on the baseball diamond. Thomas later attended Youngstown State University, as well as, Bliss College in Columbus. He married his wife, the former Cheryl S. Horst on December 4, 2004.

Thomas worked for many years in the construction trades. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66, before retiring as a construction superintendant Mr. Allsopp attended Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima.

He was a 33 degree Mason – Scottish Rite and a member of the Allen Lodge #276 F&AM, was a past president and member of the Youngstown Shrine Club. Thomas was also a member of the Royal Order of the Jesters Court #14 in Cleveland, Al Koran in Broadview Heights, and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid sportsman all of his life who loved to hunt, fish, golf, and garden.

He truly enjoyed all of the camaraderie and companionship of his friends, but especially when at “hunting camp”, the golf course, and with the Shrine Club. Thomas also enjoyed cooking and canning many different types of foods, whether it was the vegetables from his own garden or baking (and then eating) his favorite kinds of pies. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Cheryl; three sons, John Paul (Stacy) Allsopp of Poland, Matthew (Marcy) Allsopp of Pittsburgh, Brian Allsopp of Canfield, a daughter Amy (Anthony) Daprile of Canfield, a stepdaughter Lisa Williams of Poland; six grandchildren John Paul, Jr., Justin, and Jacob Allsopp, Emma and Nathan Daprile, and Alexandria Allsopp; two sisters Cecilia Allsopp of Tempe, AZ and Jayne Farragher of Boardman.

Mr. Allsopp was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul John Allsopp, and his first wife, Patricia (Connelly) Allsopp. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Mt. Olivet UCC, 410 S. Range Rd.

, North Lima, Ohio 44452, with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home, 11500 Market St., North Lima, and again from 10:00-11:00am Friday, at Mt. Olivet, prior to the funeral service.

The Allen Lodge will conduct a Masonic service at 8:00pm Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may take the form of contributions to The Shriners Hospitals for Children at lovetotherescue.org , in Thomas’ name. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
