Thomas Michael Cistola (Tommy), 62, of Munster, IN, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2018 after his fearless fight with cancer. He was born on November 16, 1955 in Queens, NY, and grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a dual Masters Degree in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering.

He wore his heart on his sleeve and never hesitated to tell his family “I Love You” at the end of the day or a phone call. He was an avid weightlifter, loved bowling, and enjoyed spending time discussing life, relationships, and the meaning thereof. He loved lively conversation and found something interesting about everyone he came in contact with.

He loved his Sundays with his family, cooking and watching football. He took particular interest in making sure everyone was well-fed and had fun in general while in his home. He was loved by many, including his wife of more than 20 years, Yvonne Cistola, sons Thomas, Brandon, Jordan, and daughter Heather; his brothers Daniel (Karen), Edward (Jennifer), sister Carolyn (Mark) and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmilia and Horace and his older brother Alfred. Visitation with the family is at Burns Kish Funeral Home at 8415 Calumet Avenue – Munster, IN on Friday, October 19, from 4pm-8pm. Memorial service is at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 8955 Columbia Avenue – Munster, IN on Saturday, October 20, at 3:00pm with a reception immediately following.
