Thomas E. “Tom” Kendrick, 67, of Moberly, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his home. He was born June 4, 1951 in Hannibal, MO to William Leon and Martha (Kimbel) Kendrick. Tom graduated from South Shelby High School in Shelbina, MO in 1969.

He then attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers college in Kirksville, MO before transferring to Moberly Junior College where he met his wife, Becky Pitney. Tom was employed as a switchman for the Norfolk and Western Railroad for 15 years. He graduated from Missouri Auction School in Kansas City, MO in 1975.

He joined his father-in-law, Edgar Pitney in the auction business. Following his father-in-law’s death in 1987, Tom continued auctioneering as Kendrick Auction until his retirement in 2018. He was also the co-owner of Old Allen Storage units and former real estate agent for Coldwell Banker.

Tom married Becky Pitney on August 12, 1973 in Moberly and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Matthew Kendrick and his wife Nikki of Lake St. Louis, MO and Heather Kirkendoll and her husband Luke of Moberly, five grandchildren, brothers; Don Kendrick and Mary Thomas of Mexico, MO, Jim Kendrick and his wife Ann of Shelbina, MO, Bill Kendrick and his wife Cheryl of Shelbina, MO and Pat Kendrick and his wife Jeanette of Greentop, MO, sisters, Becky Thomas and her husband Tom of Kearney, MO and Peggy Boots and her husband Randy of Moberly, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a brother, Bobby Kendrick, a niece, Cindy Thomas and his parents-in-law, Edgar and Marjorie Pitney.

Tom was a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church and a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom was known for his sense of humor, his love for his family and his willingness to offer auctioneer services to help raise funds for community organizations. Tom loved football which included reaching a 2nd place state title as a South Shelby Cardinal, supporting his son as a Moberly Spartan and a Benedictine College Ravens, also watching numerous hours of the sport on television.

He loved spending time with his family and friends and attending his children and grandchildren’s activities. Memorials to the United Way of Randolph County or Altrusa Christmas in the Park would be appreciated. Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation, which will be, Monday, March 18, 2019, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, March 19, 2019, 2:30 p.m. at the St. Pius X Catholic Church. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
