OBITUARY Thomas Richard Crocker October 12, 1944 – August 15, 2018 Thomas Richard Crocker, age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents; Francis (Pete) Crocker and Arleen (Doletzky) Crocker. The love that he brought to the world was unconditional and limitless.
His love lives on through his wife of 49 years, Jan; children Kim and Mike Feiwell, Tami and Ryan VanOeveren, Todd Crocker and Ashley Vella, Brian and Beth Crocker; grandchildren, Jay, Jordyn, Hailey, Andrew, Allyson, Olivia, Clayton; siblings, Jon and Cathy Crocker, Dean and Debbie Crocker; nieces, nephews and a large extended family. He left each community in which he lived a better place, his loss is felt in the Dexter, Ann Arbor and Indianapolis communities. Tom was a 1962 graduate of Dexter high school where he was a standout athlete.
He carried his love for his hometown and sports throughout his life. He was actively involved in the Dexter Alumni association and cherished time spent with his classmates. Throughout his life he played and coached in the Ann Arbor Rec.
leagues. His hook shot was legendary for over 40 years. He particularly enjoyed playing basketball and golf with his brothers, boys, nephews and grandsons.
He lived a selfless life of service to the Lord, his family and his community. He loved to entertain and minister through his music which he continued to perform until the end of his earthly life. He is fondly remembered by many for singing Christmas carols at Haisley Elementary school as well as his regular professional performances at various venues throughout Michigan, and more recently, the Indianapolis area.
He was an amazing man of faith, husband, father, brother, musician, leader, mentor and coach. He worked tirelessly, loved unconditionally and gave of himself endlessly. Be it through his music, his volunteerism, ministering, coaching or even just providing a ride to basketball practices, he was always willing to give of himself.
He was a living embodiment of a servant leader. Although he will be missed terribly, he will continue to live on through the amazing family he and his loving wife Jan built and the countless lives they touched. He fed “the seed down in his soul” and watched it grow through his family and community.
His place in Heaven is secure and his life and legacy eternal. The family is also planning a celebration of life in Indianspoils to be held at a later date. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 24 from 2 – 8 at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave.
, Ann Arbor. The funeral will take place on Saturday, August 25 at 11:00 at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow service at Washtenong Memorial Park Cemetery.
