Thomas Mark Schafer (or as he preferred, Tommy), 68, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 in his home in Dundalk,Maryland. Born May 10, 1950 to the late Alphonse and Ann Schafer, he led a full life and often spoke of how lucky he was for the people in it. He (sometimes) enjoyed golf, even though he often described himself as “lousy,” conversations with his dear friends in the Amen Corner, and rooting in the Orioles, no matter how bad they were.

What he lacked in golfing prowess he made up for as a skilled slow pitch softball player. He was inducted in the Maryland Slow Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2007. A self-proclaimed dinosaur, he loved watching old television shows like the Andy Griffith Show and The Three Stooges, except on New Years Eve, when he would watch the marathon of the Twilight Zone.

He was unfailingly kind and the consummate gentleman, endearing himself to almost everyone he met. He had many words of wisdom and catch phrases, but asked that when he passed, a simple message be left: Damn it. Tommy is survived by his daughter, extended family, and a legion of people he was proud to call his friends.
