Ms. Thresa Mershell Nails was born on April 16, 1960 to the late Eddie James Eason and the late Lissa Butler Ryals in Jacksonville, Georgia. Thresa moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1996 and then back to her hometown of Baxley in 2011. She was employed at Laquinta and Holiday Inn as a housekeeper.

She was also employed with Americord, Flash Foods, and McDonald’s. She was a member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of her nephew, Pastor Moses Eason, Sr. Thresa loved to cook and she had excellent culinary skills. She spent a lot of time reading novels and books, as well as listening to gospel music.

She enjoyed traveling to various places and going on walks. Her favorite color was blue. She would spend her Saturday mornings cleaning as she listened to one of her favorite artists, Anita Baker.

Thresa was very crazy about her family and wanted unity amongst her family. She loved her kids and always, always, always, strived to be the best parent any child could ask for ~ but her heart were her grandkids. She loved the ground they walked on and would move heaven and earth for them.

Her last request was “Take Care of MY GRANDBABIES”… After a tough battle with her illness, Thresa was called home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2019 at Hazlehurst Court Care and Rehab. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie James Eason and Lissa Butler Ryals. She will forever be missed by her family and friends.
