. Yanceyville, NC – It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Thurston “ Shine “ Mangum of 118 Melvin Wrenn Rd. Yanceyville, NC, who died Saturday, October 13, 2018 in the Sovah Health Danville, Va.

He was a native of Caswell County, NC the son of the late McAllister Mangum and Lucy Turner Mangum Slade, born April 30, 1941. He was a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church and was an employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Danville, Va. before retirement.

He was a member of the Leasburg Masonic Lodge # 648. He was preceded in death by one son, Thurston Maurice Mangum; three brothers, John Lee Mangum, Robert Mangum and Larry Mangum; four brothers-in-law, Ernest Williams, James Helm, Rev. Donald Coletrane, and Ricky Lewis.

His survivors are wife, Linda Graves Mangum of the home; one son, Mark Anthony Mangum of the home; three sisters, Effie Williams and Veronica Coletrane both of Yanceyville, NC and Luella Helm of Reidsville, NC; two brothers, McRae Mangum ( Janie ) of Gibsonville, NC and Percy Mangum ( Wanda ) of Danville, Va. ; six sisters-in-law, Elaine Pinnix (Leroy) of Mebane, NC, Roxie Giggets (Richard) of Pelham, NC, Betty Long of Yanceyville, NC, Kay Lewis, Sally Payne both of Danville, Va. , and Phyllis Mangum of Yanceyville, NC; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
