Timothy Joe Godfrey September 09, 1960 – February 11, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Mr. Timothy Joe Godfrey, age 58, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 after a fiercely fought year long battle with ALS . He was born on September 9, 1960 in Huntsville, Alabama Mr. Godfrey grew up globally living in Texas, Virginia, Korea, and the Philippines before moving to Georgia in 1984 to be near his family in Armuchee. He was a hard worker, boasting an extensive career as a mechanic in the industrial maintenance field.

He enjoyed all aspects of country living, with many passions including woodworking, playing cards, watching SEC Football, and following his Dallas Cowboys. Being a natural prankster he loved telling jokes and bringing laughter to everyone he encountered. Mr. Godfrey is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kristie Culp-Godfrey; and their blended family; Andy Godfrey (Cedartown, GA), Christina Godfrey (San Francisco, CA), Kelly Burnette and Josef (Rome, Ga), and Matthew Pharr and Melissa (Armuchee, Ga).

Also surviving are his mother, Billie Godfrey; brother Michael Godfrey; sisters, Sharon and Teresa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Godfrey is preceded in death by his father and best-friend Donald Fay Godfrey. In keeping with Mr. Godfrey’s wishes, he was cremated.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be made to The ALS Association at 1275 K Street NW – Suite 250, Washington, DC 20005 or to Heyman Hospice at 420 East 2nd Av. Rome, Georgia 30161.
