Obituary for Tom Martinez Tom Martinez passed away peacefully on December 20, 2018 with family at his side. Tom was born December 21, 1929 in Italy, Tx to Jose and Socorro Martinez, both of whom preceded him in death along with his sons, Michael and Thomas Martinez, sister, Sister Rose Marie Martinez, and former wife, Peggy Martinez. In 1961, Tom began his service in the US Army and the Army National Guard and retired in 1990.

His dedicated work ethic garnered him a respected reputation among his colleagues and friends. He loved his family very much and made sure that they each knew how special they were to him. His kind smile and his wise counsel helped so many that came to him.

He loved making sure others were taken care of and always put others’ needs before his own. He loved to tell family stories making sure that the Martinez legacy was shared with both family and friends. A wonderful man of faith and generosity, Tom will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Tom is survived by his children: Stella Martinez of Vicksburg, MS, Marina Martinez of Dallas, TX, Cynthia Parnell and husband, Judge Joe Parnell, of Terrell, TX and Rudy Martinez of Dallas, TX; brother, Joe Martinez of Dallas, TX; sisters: Inez Gomez of Dallas, TX, Maria M. Barajas of Italy, TX, Alicia Guerra of Garland, TX, and Juanita Maldonado of Red Oak, TX as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral service for Tom will be Saturday 3:00 pm December 22, 2018 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm until service time.
