Tom’s Obituary Thomas S. “Tom” Turner, 72, of Parsons, passed away in his home. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected. Tom was born on September 10, 1946, to Leon and Geraldine (Brothers) Turner in Parsons.

When he was a boy, Tom and his family moved to Lawrence. He attended schools in Overland Park and graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1964. Tom earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Goldsmithing from the University of Kansas.

For six years, he was a member of the U. S. Army Reserves. Besides living in Lawrence, Tom had also lived in Aspen, Colorado; Capitola, California; and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He returned to Parsons in the mid-1980’s and worked in the Wal Mart sporting goods department for many years.

Tom was an avid reader and enjoyed spending many summers at the public pool reading. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Kirby and Becky Turner, of Rogers, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Geraldine Turner.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
