Mr. Tommie Lynn Douglas, 74, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family. Tommie was born on October 24, 1943 in Lee County, NC to the late Jennings and Leila Douglas. He graduated from Massey Hill High School and retired from the Directorate of Public Works at Fort Bragg after a long and decorated career.

Tommie will be remembered as a kind, generous and loving man. Above all else, he cherished his family and friends. He also loved hunting and the outdoors.

He was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was proud to be a 32nd degree Mason. Tommie is survived by his companion of 38 years, Rebecca Hatfield of the home; a daughter, Paula Garcia (Tony) of Raeford; two sons, Tommie Lynn Douglas, Jr. (Stephanie) of Clayton and Dale Hatfield (Lisa) of Vander; one sister, Shirley Elliott of Kinston; one brother, Donnie Douglas (Dianne) of Hope Mills; and four grandchildren, Katie Owens, Andrew Douglas, Deegan Douglas and Carly Malvano. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, September 9, 2018 in Westminister Presbyterian Church with Dr. Richard McDuffie officiating.

Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
