He was born on October 13, 1955, to Cleophus Peterson and Martha Lockett in Hattiesburg. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Josephine Lockett, Yvonne Lockett and Sandra Peterson; one brother, Michael Peterson.

He is survived by two daughters, Latosha (Tirso) McCoy and Shira (Wesley) Brownell; three grandchildren: Tirso McCoy, Jr., Jayson McCoy and Noah Speights; five siblings: Donald (Lillie) Peterson, Vickie Peterson, Gwendolyn Peterson, Terry Peterson-Walker and Valerie Cook. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18, 2018, 10am at Forrest Funeral Home with the service to follow at 12:00 in Forrest Chapel. Interment will at Highland Cemetery.
