Tommy Melvin Havard, 85, of Dayton, Texas, formerly of Jacinto City, passed into his heavenly home on September 12, 2018. Known to family and friends as Melvin, he was born February 23, 1933 in Angelina County, Texas to parents, Thomas Franklin Havard and Cora Edna (Cryer) Havard. He served his country in the U.S. Army and married the love of his life, Geneva Morgan, on September 26, 1952.

He worked for Perry Scale Company for 25 years and later in public works for Jacinto City. He is preceded… Read More » in death by parents, by daughter, Robin Havard and two son-in-laws, Bill Spears and Mike Whitten and by 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Geneva Ann Havard; by daughters, Terry Spears and Pamela Whitten; by 5 grandchildren, Tammy Nichols, Sandy Spears, Heather Aldaco, Glen Smith and Donna Maddy; and by 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; by other family and dear friends.

The family invites you to join them for a time of remembrance on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Carter-Conley Funeral Home. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m.until 1:00 p.m. with services to celebrate his life starting at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
