Obituary for Tonja Leann Polk Tonja Leann Polk, age 56, passed away May 2, 2018. She was born May 28, 1961, in Madison, TN, to Leon Rhodes and Marjorie Joyce (Coin). Raised in Rockwall, TX, Tonja grew up with her mother, Marjorie, and father, Ray Hargrove.
She was a stay-at-home mom who also drove a bus for Rockwall Independent School District. “My first of five little boys, #1 Dusty, #2 Stoney, #3 Casey, #4 Ricky, #5 Baley. They all have brought such joy to my life.
There are no words that can explain the true love you feel in your heart when God has blessed you with a child”. ~Tonja She was a rockstar of a mom at raising her children and was a loving mother. Tonja also took care of her son’s friends like they were her own.
She was the cool mom and everyone came to her house to hang out, earning her the title of “Neighborhood Mom”. Known as “MiMi” to her grandkids, Tonja cherished spending time with them and was an adoring grandmother. She was an amazing cook and was also known for her legendary sweet tea.
Tonja was dearly loved and her memory will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Tonja is survived by her loving sons: Dusty Polk and wife Katie of Rockwall, Stoney Polk and wife Nicole of Bluff Dale, TX, and Baley Polk of Royse City, TX; twin brother: Leon Hargrove and wife Sherry; brothers: Todd Hargrove and wife Tonda and Tag Rhodes; sisters: Carolyn Peoples and husband Mike, Debbie Downum and husband Dale, Diane Williams, Tara Story, Tammy Scragg, Tandy Raynes and Pam Butler; and eight grandchildren: Brylen, Avery, Preston, Harper, Emerson, Landon, Teagan and Cheston; along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved sons: Casey and Ricky Polk in 1996; father: Leon Rhodes; parents: Marjorie and Ray Hargrove; and grandmother: Gladys Hataway.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Yellow Jacket Ln. , Rockwall, 75087, with Dr. Russell Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Rockwall Memorial Cemetery, 409 W. Washington St., Rockwall, 75087.
Pallbearers will be Corey Smith, Martin “Bubba” McCormick, Keven Rowan, Kenny Seabolt, Trevor McKenzie, Matt Hargrove, Chris Downum, Michael Johnson and Colton Hargrove.
