Obituary for Mr. Travis Joseph Tyson Mr. Travis Joseph “Tubs” Tyson, age 40 of Glen St. Mary, passed away unexpectedly on Friday September 21, 2018. Mr. Tyson was born on October 28, 1977 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Mr. James “Freddy” Tyson and Dorothy “Kathaleen” (Canaday) Tyson. A Baker County resident for most of his life, Travis attended area schools and was a 1996 graduate of Baker County High School.

While in school, he excelled in playing baseball. After graduation, Mr. Tyson went on to work for W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor as a pipefitter and welder. During that time he was a member of Local Union 234 in Jacksonville.

After spending years with W.W. Gay, he moved to Hawkinsville, Georgia. In 2016, he opened his own store, Buck Creek Outfitters. Mr. Tyson returned to his native Baker County earlier this year.

When not working, Travis enjoyed spending time with family and being outdoors. This included hunting and fishing, as well as mud bogging. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew him, especially his family.

Mr. Tyson is survived by his wife: Mrs. Celinda Long of Hawkinsville, GA; son: Trayton of Glen St. Mary; daughters: Summerlyne and Bristol both of Glen St. Mary; stepson: Payton of Glen St. Mary; stepdaughter: Cheyanna of Glen St. Mary; brother: James “Larry” Tyson of Glen St. Mary; sister: Staci Akridge of Glen St. Mary; grandmother: Geraldine Altman; nieces: Taralynn Tyson, Maggie Akridge, Emily Akridge, Lillie Akridge, Khloe Akridge, Paige Tyson, and Raelyn Tyson; nephews: John Akridge III, Easton Akridge, Logan Tyson, Ty Tyson, Skyler Tyson, Tristan Tyson; his beloved dog: Dixie Mae; numerous other family members and friends also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Travis will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm, in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny.

Burial will follow at Manntown Cemetery, Glen St. Mary. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny.
