Obituary of Travis Schenck Travis S. Schenck passed away on January 29, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Chisholm, Minnesota August 24, 1922, the son of the late Stanley Schenck and Eva Schenck. Travis is a graduate of Chisholm schools in 1941 and then joined the US Navy.

He was sent to radio operator school at Miami University in Oxford Ohio and was assigned to the USS Newman APD59. Travis served in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of War while on the USS Newman. Travis participated in five major battles.

During the War he married Amelia Arico of Poughkeepsie, NY and they have been married for over 73 years. Travis worked at Vassar Hospital for 15 years as a plumber and steamfitter and then went on to join the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 201 and Local 21 where he worked for over 47 years. Travis did work for many local and non-local contractors in that capacity.

Travis is survived by his wife Amelia of Poughkeepsie, his son Frank Schenck and his wife Sandra of Jamestown, PA. , his daughter Lyneva Peluso and her companion Brian Emmett of Poughkeepsie, NY. , his three grandchildren Frank Schenck Jr., Amelia Blevins, Michael DeVita, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Travis was predeceased by a brother James and his wife Ruth Dalquest, a sister Lois and her husband Ludwig Janesich and a nephew Howard. Calling Hours will be held Wednesday February 6, 2019 from 10am to 11am at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
