OBITUARY Truett Hall November 21, 1937 – December 27, 2018 Truett Hall was born at home on November 21, 1937 to Joe and Vera Romans Hall in the Sunny Point community of Hopkins County, Texas. He was the sixth of seven children born to this union and the last survivor. In February of 1956, he ran away with Jane Haney and got married in Mesquite celebrating that afternoon with his brothers and sisters with a feast of bologna sandwiches.

Two sons, Joe and David, were born to this marriage. Truett was educated in the Cumby schools and began working in the shipping room of Universal Film Exchange in Dallas in the late ‘50’s, eventually working his way up in the organization to become Office Manager, Branch Manager, Regional Accounting Manager and, finally, National Accounting Manager for receivables at the studio in Universal City , California. Ever the Texas boy, he came back to Grand Prairie to be near his family and went into business for several years with his brother, Leonard (Buddy).

In the late 1980’s, Universal lured him back and he helped consolidate the receivable accounting from several regional offices into a single operation in Dallas before finally retiring in 1999. Truett was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Vera Hall; his sisters, Gladys, Josie Mae and Alene; his brothers, Leonard, George and Truman; and a very special member of the family by choice, Derek Kevin Mitchell. Survivors include, his loving wife, Jane Haney Hall; his son, Joe and wife, Robbie, of Harleton ; his son, David, and wife Nescel, of Cedar Hill; grandchildren, Danielle Smith, Marissa Arledge and Derek Edward Hall; great-grandchildren, Brendan Husfeld, Piper Smith, Ty Brogdon, Gage Smith, Ansley Smith, Sydney Arledge and Allie Arledge.

Other survivors include his aunt, Estelle Baxley, of Cumby, Texas, his sister-in-law, Imogene Hall, of Berryville, Arkansas, several nieces and nephews, many cousins and a host of friends. Visitation will be at the Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018. Graveside services will be Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cumby Cemetery in Cumby, Texas.
