Obituary of Valerie Lynde Valerie B. Lynde, 83, of Bemus Point, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born September 15, 1935 in Warren, Pa, the daughter of the late F. C. Rex and Martha Grettenburger Biekarck. Prior to retirement, Valerie was a Nursing Surveyor with the Joint Commission for Hospital Accreditation.

She was also a Nursing Administrator for many years at Westfield Hospital, and taught nursing at Jamestown Community College. Valerie was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She volunteered in the St. Luke’s Thrift Shop and was a member of the Friday Afternoon Ladies Club.

She loved spending time with her husband traveling across country in their RV. Surviving are three children: Nelson M. (Lisa) Lynde IV of Bemus Point, Rex K. (Liberty U.) Lynde of Dayton, Ohio, and Pamela R. (Lester) Ko of Delmar, NY; four grandchildren: Mary Cosmilla, Mallory A. Lynde, Bodie Ko, and Eleanor Ko; a great granddaughter: Liberty Maryne Cosmilla; and a sister, Violet Wendl of Tucson, AZ. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Nelson M. Lynde III who died March 31, 2017, and a brother, John Biekarck.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday December 8, 2018 in the Chapel at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The Rev Luke F. Fodor, rector, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans Endowment Fund, c/o the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
