Obituary for Velvin Byrd Rowe Velvin Byrd Rowe, 93, of Waldo, AR died Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, AR. She was born September 25, 1925 in Walkerville, AR to the late Daniel Smead and Rachel Mae (Perry) Maloch. In Velvin’s formative years she was a member of the Hephzibah Baptist Church in Emerson and her later years became a member of the First Baptist Church in Magnolia.
She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking and was known to her family and friends for making her “Byrd House” pies. She was an avid Razorback fan and her real love was for her grandchildren, flowers, and pets. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Carl Porter; second husband Joe Byrd; brothers Wendall Maloch, Verdis Maloch, Elwin Maloch (twin), and Daniel Maloch; and step daughter Mona Rowland.
Velvin is survived by her husband James W. Rowe of Hope; children Tom Byrd and wife Kathy and Robby Byrd and wife Lynn of Waldo, Melanie Mercaldo and husband Luke of West Chicago, IL; grandchildren Jenny Glass and husband David of Texarkana, TX, Jessie Gore and husband Blake of Magnolia, Christopher Byrd of Washington, DC, Antonio Byrd and wife Andrea of Camp Pendleton, CA, Natalie Byrd of Dallas, TX, Hudson Byrd of Waldo, Sam Mercaldo of West Chicago, IL, Anna Synoga and husband Dan of Villa Park, IL; and Abbie Mercaldo of West Chicago, IL; great grandchildren Camylle Glass, Vivien Glass and Levi Gore; step children Donna Buelow and husband Steve of Hope, Jay Rowe and wife Rhonda of Siloam Springs, and Jan Rowe of Columbia, MO; ten step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, November 25 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Funeral services will be Monday, November 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
David Watkins and Bro. Brent Summerhill officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
