Vere Thomas Densley passed from this life on April 14, 2018, in South Jordan, Utah, 8 days after the passing of his beloved wife Mary Lou. Vere was born on October 28, 1925 in Riverton, Utah to Thomas Lyman and Hazel Blanche (Bills) Densley. He was the youngest of six with five older sisters.

He married Mary Lou Bodell on January 26, 1944 in Salt Lake City, 2 days before going on active duty in the Army Air Force. This marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 3, 1945. He graduated from Jordan High School and was active in music, athletics, and student government.

He received Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Utah, plus 100 graduate hours above the Master’s. He also attended Institute at the U of U from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. one summer. He flew on B-17s in Italy during World War II.

He was an Insurance Salesman for 6 years and a teacher for 31 years with a perfect attendance record as a student and an almost perfect attendance as a teacher. He began his teaching career at San Juan High School, teaching music for 4 years. He taught part time at South Parks Academy at the Utah State Prison, and also Salt Lake Community College to support his 2 oldest sons on LDS missions.

He was a teacher at Mount Jordan Jr. High School for 27 years. He retired from teaching in 1985 and became a full time temple worker serving 45 to 50 hours a week in the Salt Lake Temple and the Jordan River Temple since it opened in 1981. He was a chorister in the LDS church since he was 15 years old, off and on.

He served in a number of Bishoprics, as well as the Stake High Council. Vere and Mary Lou traveled the world to over 70 countries and shared their experiences with their family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Densley, parents, and his 5 sisters and brothers-in-law, LaVae (Clyde B. Lee), Marjorie (J.T. Sorenson M.D.), Lucille Densley, Fern (Robert Helt), and Afton (Ralph) Crane.

He is survived by his 3 sons and 2 daughters, Randal Vere (Jean Criddle) of Orem, UT, Steven Thomas (Colleen Taylor) of Provo, UT, Alison (Dennis Elmer, Deceased) Seal of Sandy, UT, Troy Lyman (Thais “Tandi” Evans) of Herriman, UT, Maradee (Paul) Henrie, of West Valley City, UT, 28 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren 3 great-great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, and from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on April 21st.

Both the viewing and funeral will be at the LDS Flint Drive Chapel, 9824 S. Flint Drive, Sandy, Utah. Interment will be in the Riverton City Cemetery, Riverton, Utah.
