Verlyne’s Obituary Addie Verlyne Bridges, 87, passed away January 10, 2019. Celebration Of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Idalou First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Idalou Cemetery.

Family will greet guest at Moore-Rose Funeral Home Sunday, January 13, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Idalou. Verlyne was born February 5, 1931 to Ancil and Thelma (McCorkle) Dillard in Pettus, Texas. She married Reginald Bridges June 14, 1949.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband(2005), a sister Reta Trousdale and a brother Louis Dillard. After 25 years as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Lubbock State School, Verlyne retired and served alongside her husband in missions by directing the Lubbock Baptist Associations Mission Corp. She and Reginald made a dynamic team with 50 years of ministerial service.

She was also a member of the Idalou First Baptist Church and a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. Survivors include a brother Marvin Dillard of San Diego, CA; her son Lowell Bridges of Lubbock, TX; three daughters, Renee’ Fikes of Idalou, TX, Christy Taylor of Plano, TX, and Cheryl Cady of Lake Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be given to Idalou First Baptist Church.
