Verna’s Obituary Verna P. Mergen, 86, of Glen Haven, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Cassville. Father John Meinholz will officiate.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Settlement Cemetery, Cassville. Friends may call on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church, where there will be a parish rosary at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in memory of Verna, to St. Charles Catholic Church restoration project.

Verna was born on March 11, 1933 in Glen Haven, Wisconsin, daughter of Roland and Agnes (Dresen) Breuer. She was united in marriage to Joseph F. Mergen on June 3, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glen Haven. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2017.

She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Cassville, and was an a member of the CCW. She liked going to the Senior Center in Cassville. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and growing peaches and apples.

She dearly loved children. She is survived by her eight children, Michelle (Wayne) Myhre, Marie (John) Fralick, Nancy (Dave) Lambert, Joe (Lorraine) Mergen, Jennifer (Brad) Hochhausen, Sally Mergen, Barry (Shanon) Mergen, and Mitch (Jessica) Mergen; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Colleen Kreger, Judy Lanphier, and Rosie (John) Appleby; one brother, Ron (Joy) Breuer; special nephew, Stan Breuer and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers and sisters, Sister Mary Ann Breuer, Charlie Breuer, Ruth Bausch and Burnell Breuer.
