OBITUARY Vernon Blackburn August 26, 1936 – October 20, 2018 Mr. Vernon Howard Blackburn, 82, entered into rest on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Mr. Blackburn was a Proud Veteran and served in The United States Army. He was a hard worker, tough, honest and a very loyal man.

He knew how to work on many things and was a jack of all trades. He loved to spend holidays with his family and friends, especially Thanksgiving. Mr. Blackburn is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lucille Blackburn; and brother, Bryant Eugene Blackburn.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Christine Blackburn; children, Howard Blackburn, Deborah Still, Lisa O’ Neal (Robin) and Charles Blackburn (Emily); sister-in-law, Sarah Joyce Lessing; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12-2pm on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
