Vernon Jones was born to Vinton and Dorothy Jones in Otter Crest, Oregon on September 5th, 1935. After high school, Vernon became a lifelong commercial fisherman. He was married to Joan Jones for over 60 years.

Like his family before him, Vernon continued the over 100 year old tradition of living on the Oregon Coast.
