Obituary for Vernon Harrell Coker Vernon Harrell Coker, 82, of North Little Rock went home to His Lord on Tuesday, June 26. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Harrell R. and Eathel Mae Herring Coker. Vernon turned from sin and trusted in Christ’s death and resurrection at an early age.

He was an organist and member of North Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church where he was also a former Sunday School teacher. He retired after many years at the United States Postal Service and served his country in the United States Navy and Air Force. He is celebrating in heaven now with his parents.

He is waiting to be joined by his wife, Mary Maxine Phillips Coker; “favorite” daughter Nelwyn Wirges (Pastor Robert); grandchildren, Robert Vernon Wirges, Stephen Wirges (Amy), Melissa Wirges, Rachel Wirges-Lott (Samuel), Laura Wirges, Stephanie Jennings (Ben); great-grandchildren, Sage and Blaine Wirges, Amy Joy, Marie, and Benjamin Jennings, Cristofori Lott, and Diania Russell; siblings, Norma Carpenter, Danny Coker (Jackie), and Wilma Fiser (Danny). Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, June 29 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 30 at the funeral home.
