Vernon V. Wilson, Jr., 79, of Colona, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Jim and Trudy Maloof St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Midwest Affiliate in Peoria. Vernon was born on August 22, 1939, in Rural Township, IL, the son of Vernon V. and Eda M. (Persson) Wilson, Sr

He began his career at the Rock Island Railroad and later as the Chief Maintenance Officer at the John Deere Foundry. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Greenview Country Club. He was also active with the Svithoid Club and Friend’s Circle Survivors include his children, Brian (Cindy) Wilson, Water Valley, MS, and Tracy Wilson, Moline; grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Ashlee, Brian Jr., Christopher (Chelsea), and Emily.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark; grandchildren, McKenzie and Kristin; sisters, Rosalie and Marion, and brother, Bob. Memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
