Obituary for Vertlea Barnes Vertlea Barnes, 92 passed away Sunday, December 30th, 2018 at Otterbein of Monclova. A native of Mileston, MS , she was the daughter of Eddie Kimbrough and Amanda Oliphant. Vertlea was the oldest founding memeber of Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church.

She enjoyed her role as President of the Usher Board. She was also a dedicated member of Eastern Star. Vertlea was a Housekeeper and Home-maker.

He proudest moment was her seven children, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Vertlea’s caring spirit and loving heart touched so many. She loved travelling, cooking and sharing time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Barnes; sons, David Lee Banks, Earnest Terry Banks, and William (Cookie) Edward Banks; and daughter, Clara A. Haynes. Vertlea will be missed by her daughters, Burnett (Donald) Ware, Mary (Cornell) Grant, and Amanda (Eugene) Woods; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. .

Funeral Services are Friday, January 4th, 2019 at 11:00 am at The House of Day Funeral Services Chapel preceded by 10:00am wake. Interment to follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. To send flowers to the family of Vertlea Barnes, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
