Obituary for Victor G. Trentacost Trentacost, Victor G. “Red”, 79 of Toms River, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Victor was born in the City of Passaic on July 31, 1939. He graduated Clifton High School and moved to Passaic in 1959.

He was a member of the Brick Layers Union and worked at the Picatiny Arsonal in construction of buildings for several years. In 1960 he married his soul mate Rosemarie Russo, they built a life together for 58 years. In 1967 He became a Passaic Firefighter and served with honor for 30 years, during his career he received several Valor Awards Commendations and service awards.

He was responsible for the re-organization of the Fire Prevention and Fire Investigations Bureau bringing the Passaic Fire Department as one of the first to be compliant with NJ Divisions of Fire Safety. After years of dedicated service he retired as a Battalion Chief in 1996. He was a dedicated husband, great father and devoted grandfather.

His past times included golf, playing cards, going to AC and spending time with his grandsons. He was a lifelong parishioner of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Passaic, he was a member of the Mt.

Carmel Holy Name Society, NJ State FMBA, Passaic FMBA Local # 13 and 213, the NJ Chief’s Association, NJ Chapter of International Association of Arson Investigation, NJ Exempt FF Association and the Passaic/Clifton Unico. Victor is survived by his children, Florence Trentacost Lo Cascio of Toms River, Patrick Trentacost Sr. “Chief of the Passaic Fire Department” & his wife Victoria of Wayne & Anthony Trentacost of Toms River. Grandfather of Patrick Jr., Victor & Louis.

Brother of Salvatore of Passaic, Anthony of Wayne and Joseph of Wayne. Funeral from the Marrocco Memorial Chapel – 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton on Friday at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Passaic at 10 AM.
