Obituary for Victor Santero VICTOR “VIC” SANTERO, 88 of Ogallala, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018, at Indian Hills Health Care Community in Ogallala. Vic was born June 29, 1930, in rural Keith County, NE to Dominic and Minnie (Teppa) Santero. Vic graduated from Big Springs High School in 1948.

He subsequently went to work on the railroad briefly before joining the U.S. Navy. Vic served a year of active duty service before returning home to work with his dad at the local tavern. He married Donava McCormick in 1954, and their 25-year union was blessed with four children.

In 1969, he bought the bar from his dad, remodeled, and changed the name to Vic’s Supper Club. His venture was successful for the next 30 years due to the fabulous food and great atmosphere. He was well known for his excellent steaks.

In 1984, Vic sold the bar and moved to Ogallala where he managed and cooked at the Elks Club for seven years. In 1984, Victor married Barb Fuller. Most recently, Vic had been making his home at Welcov Assisted Living, where he made some great friends.

One of Vic’s life passions was goose hunting. Many wonderful memories were made in goose blinds over the years. When he could no longer hunt, Vic would often enjoy watching the geese as they would fly by.

He also enjoyed fishing and cherished the time he got to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vic was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barb Fuller; and eight siblings. Survivors include his children, Vicki (Perry) Van Newkirk of Pine Bluffs, WY, Rex (Diana) Santero of Ogallala, Linda Victory of Guernsey, WY, Jay Santero of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Jamie (Rick) Soper, Megan (Mike) Palmer, Shannon (Casper) Corfield, Shalee (Jason) Krajewski, Tony (Gini) Corbin, Dustin (Phaedra) Victory, Jerik (Kristian Tinnon) Victory, Karston (Kalen Nedella) Victory, and Wyatt Santero; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Edith “Chi Chi” and Mary Lou “Toots”; brother, Guido; and many other relatives and friends.
