Vidal tenía un hermano y dos Hermanas. Vidal trabajo en uno de los hoteles más prestigiosos en Cuba y después fue pescador por varios anos.

En el año 1961 Vidal fue arrestado y detenido como prisionero político por 9 años en el régimen comunista de Cuba. En el año 1980 Vidal logro salir de Cuba con su familia a los Estados Unidos y poco tiempo después se movieron a Fresno, California. Vidal tenía 40 años cuando llego a los Estados Unidos.

Vidal llego a ser Mecánico de automóviles un oficio cual se especalicio con éxito. Durante tiempo libre Vidal le gustaba bailar, oír música cubana y cocinar. Vidal también le gustaba pasar tiempo con sus hijos y dar consejos de vida.

Vidal llego a tener 80 años de edad y tenía varias bendiciones en su vida. Se fue de nuestro lado el día 8 de enero del 2019. La memoria de Vidal será querida por sus tres hijos, Vidal Montes Fernandez, Vidal Gonzalez Fernandez, Alejandro Fernandez, y sus dos hijas, Yaima Fernandez, y Niurka Fernandez de Gomez y todos sus nietos(as).
