Vinny was a “gentle” man in every sense, kind and caring, and he was, most of all, generous of spirit. He loved his “tribe” immeasurably, and each one will dearly miss his warmth, wisdom, and inimitable sense of humor.
He was born in Hartford, CT on July 18, 1939, and spent most of his years there. He was a successful real estate entrepreneur, restaurateur and an art and antiques lover. Real estate was his passion.
Under the tutelage of his parents, Mary and Joseph Giuliano, Vincent operated American Realty Inc. and later owned and operated Giuliano Construction. As a general contractor his credits are prolific, spending many years constructing apartment and office buildings and housing developments. After retiring from construction, Vinny became a real estate dealmaker, negotiating transactions for Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York developers.
Vinny enjoyed playing cards, road trips to anywhere, and cooking, but he was happiest with family around him. His love of family was highlighted every Christmas Eve when he hosted the Italian “Festa”, cooking and serving the traditional seven fish dinner. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Giuliano, his life mate for over forty years.
Theirs was a beautiful life and a great love story. He also leaves his brother and pal Carmine Giuliano, Esq. of West Hartford: his daughter Laurie Correll of Old Saybrook and her husband Stephen: his daughter Christine Perry of Plano, Texas, and her husband John: Laurie and Christine’s mother, Beatrice Kozlowski of Old Saybrook: his grandchildren Nikarra Drugan and her husband Timothy: Andrew Montanaro Jr. and his wife Kelly: and Amanda and Audra Perry.
He delighted in having two great granddaughters, Josephine Montanaro and Zoey Drugan and loved watching them “tumbling up”. He also leaves his nephews Michael and Carmine “Nootch” Giuliano and Johann Harms: nieces Gina and Antoinetta Giuliano: his sisters-in-law Jacqueline Harms and Joann Stefurak: brothers-in-law John and Michael Stefurak: and many cherished cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter Rosemary.
Vinny held his doctors and caregivers at St. Francis Hospital and the Smilow Cancer Center at St. Francis Hospital in high regard. He had special gratitude for the care he received from Dr. Adam Boruchov whose efforts were nothing short of magnificent. Private services were held for family on Saturday, January 26, at the Brooklawn Funeral Home in Rocky Hill.
Father Kevin Gray, Chaplain at St. Francis Hospital, presided over the prayer service. A Celebration of Life is being planned for this summer to memorialize the fun times and invaluable meaning that “Poppy” brought into the everyday living of his family and friends. The celebration feast will offer generous amounts of baccala and calamari.
Memorial donations may be made to the Smilow Cancer Center Hospital at St. Francis, c/o The Foundation Office, 114 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105.
