CANFIELD – Vincent J. Luce, 71, passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home. Vincent, who was known to all as “Vince,” and was affectionately known as “Butch” to his father and to his old friends was born April 13, 1947, in Ashtabula, and was a son of the late Donald and Sara M. Doyle Luce.

He was raised in Warren and lived in Canfield for the past 33 years. Vince was a 1966 graduate of Warren Harding High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years in collections for Farmers National Bank and for Home Savings & Loan, retiring in 2009.

He also worked part-time for over 30 years in security for the Mahoning County Career Technical Center. Mr. Luce was a member of Highway Tabernacle in Austintown. He collected baseball cards, enjoyed yardwork and being outdoors, and he truly enjoyed his 1968 Pontiac Catalina.

Most importantly, he loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet Oleyar Luce, whom he married Oct. 23, 1971; his son, Donald M. (Stacey) Luce of Canfield; his daughter, Dawna M. (Tim) Toth of Canfield; and four grandchildren, Vincent and Julianne Luce, and Michael and Genevieve Toth.

Private memorial services were held Friday, Nov. 30, at Highway Tabernacle Fellowship Hall. Arrangements were entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

A committal service with military honors was held at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Highway Tabernacle, in Vince’s name. Donations may be made to: Highway Tabernacle 3000 S. Raccoon Rd.
