Obituary for Mr. Vincent Young Vincent Young, of Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 3, 2018. He was born January 8, 1959 in Altoona, PA. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman C. Young, Sr., and mother, Helen (Cassidy) Young.
Vincent was a graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School, Altoona, PA in 1977 and then earned a degree in Accounting from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA in 1981. He was employed by the US Postal Service s a mail-carrier in Philadelphia for 30 years and was a bartender at Philadelphia’s Knock Restaurant and Bar. Vinnie will be remembered for his love for the city of Chicago and its sports’ teams; especially the Chicago Cubs.
He was known for his loyalty, sense of humor, honesty and willingness to always do for others. He equally enjoyed a sporting event and a Broadway musical; and was always the magnet that brought friends and family together. Surviving are three brothers and sister-in-laws; Norman Young, Jr. and Sandy Young of Altoona, PA, Steve Young and Kim Young of Tyrone, PA, and Patrick Young and Denise Young of Duncansville, PA; two sisters and brother-in-laws; Michele (Young) Linaberry of Little Egg Harbor, NJ and William Linaberry and Lori (Young) Hoy and Eldon Hoy of Mifflinburg, PA, along with step-mother, Sally Young of Altoona, PA and three step-sisters; Kim (Young) Gilliand and husband Tim Gilliand of Altoona, PA, Tammy Young of Altoona, PA and Bobbie (Young) Harpster and husband Jay Harpster of Altoona, PA.
Family and friends of Vincent are welcome for a Funeral Service at Dinan Funeral Home, 1923 Spring Garden St., Phila. , PA. on Sunday, December 16 at noon.
Friends will be received for viewings at Dinan Funeral Home on Saturday, December 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on December 16 from 9 a.m. until noon. A second Memorial Service will be held in Altoona, PA at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School – please note “Class of 77, in memory of Vincent Young” in the memo.
