OBITUARY Viola S Phillips April 3, 1921 – October 29, 2018 Viola S. Phillips, age 97, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018. Viola was born in Rogersville, Alabama to the late Albert Raymond and Ruby Thornton Snoddy. She was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area.

Viola worked with Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama during World War II and retired from K-Mart. She was a longtime member of Red Bank Baptist Church and the Electa Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen “Bo” Phillips; siblings, William Thomas Snoddy, A. R. Snoddy, Jr., Alma King and Merle Bynum.

Viola is survived by her children, Joan (Steve) Carter, Carolyn Phillips, and Thomas (Valarie) Phillips; grandchildren, Brian (KayDee) Carter, Glen (Lindsey) Carter, Jeffery (Allison) Carter, Andrew Phillips, Christian (B. J.) Phelps, Jennifer Hutchings, Courtnie Cox and Logan Cox; great grandchildren, Elijah, Brilynn, Colton, Kylie, Madison, Ripken, Makena Carter, Riley Hutching s and Aiden Cox; siblings, Lois (Joe) Kaple and Peggy (Larry) Johnson; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, November 1, and 12 to 1 pm on Friday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1 pm on Friday, at the North Chapel with Reverend Bill Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Viola’s name to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or www.
