OBITUARY Violet C. Burgess May 16, 1922 – July 23, 2018 Violet C. Burgess, 96, of Louisville KY went to be with her heavenly father on July 23, 2018 . Violet was born at home in Edmonton, KY, to Pearl and J.D. Coffey. She was blessed with a son, James (JC) at a young age.

Later, she met the love of her life, Willard Burgess, and then moved to Louisville, KY, where she worked for over twenty years at a box factory. Upon retirement, she spent her time in her beautiful garden and sewing. She and her husband were faithful members of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

After Willard’s death in 2011, her only surviving sibling, Harold Coffey, cared for her faithfully at home every day and then throughout her time in long term nursing care until her gentle passing. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Willard D. Burgess; her parents, James Delmer and Pearl Elizabeth Coffey; her siblings-William Russel Coffey (Emma), Lillian G. Frazier (Lawrence), Anna Jewel Rose (Bill). Left to cherish her memory are her son, James C. Austin (Barbara) of Cathedral City, CA; her brother, Harold Coffey of Louisville, KY, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends all of whom were deeply loved and brought her so much joy.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10 am in Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 3 pm – 7 pm at the funeral Home. In order to honor her gift of sight that has been restored to her, the family requests that memorial gifts be given to the Lion’s Club.

Used eyeglasses may be brought to the funeral home during visitation for donation so that others may also be able to see clearly. Please visit www. evergreen-louisville.com to share condolences with the family.
