Violet Irene Rose Miller was born the daughter of Julius and Tillie Miller in Circle, Montana, on January 17, 1930. She moved with her family to Newberg, Oregon, when she was a young girl. Vi completed her education in the Newberg public schools.

She served as the Newberg Berrien Festival queen (precursor to Newberg’s Old Fashioned Festival) in 1947. Vi Miller and Chuck Caffall were high school sweethearts and married in September of 1948. They were married 40 years, investing their lives in the Newberg community, until Chuck passed away in 1988.

Vi lived in the Newberg community all her life. Vi led an active life. She was actively involved in the First United Methodist Church serving on various committees.

She loved working in her yard and even became a Master Gardner. She was deeply invested in Chapter DX of P. E. O. working to create educational scholarships for Newberg High School women. Vi was involved with several bridge groups.

You could often find her playing bridge with her many friends. She led an active life enjoying golfing and walking, especially on the beach while spending time at her family’s Cannon Beach home. Vi was very social and enjoyed investing her life in friends and family.

In January 1997 Jerry McNeil and Vi Caffall were married. Jerry and Vi enjoyed traveling to Palm Desert and visiting family and friends. They enjoyed playing golf together, playing bridge, and dance club.

Vi will be remembered as a dear friend, loving mother, and doting grandmother. She died November 4th at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband, Jerry McNeil; children, Terrye Caffall, Dianna McIntyre and her husband Doug, and Doug Caffall and his wife Kathy.

Eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive her. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 15, 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Newberg, Oregon. Memorial contributions may be made to: Local High School Scholarship.
