Virgil’s Obituary Virgil Mercer, 83, of Blunt, passed away May 9, 2019. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blunt. Virgil Louis Mercer was born on June 15, 1935 in Britton Township, Hughes County to Arlo and Elnora (Hageman) Mercer.

He grew up on his father’s farm and attended NRG School near his home. He graduated from Blunt High School. Virgil married Danna Garber on April 26, 1958 and to this union were born three children: Penny, Patti and David.

Virgil was a farmer and rancher in Hughes County his entire life. He was an excellent carpenter and remodeled all his homes. His family was of the greatest importance to him.

He enjoyed taking his children and their horses to 4H and horse competitions. Virgil enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and became college basketball fan through his daughter Patti’s games. He always enjoyed playing with his grandchildren – their wish was his command.

Virgil was a member of the United Methodist Church in Blunt. Virgil is survived by his wife Danna, children: Penny (Cliff) Norris, Patti (Clark) Jordre and David (Jennifer) Mercer, grandchildren: Cliff, Dannale, Dusty, Kirsten and Lexie Norris, Lincoln and Quinn Jordre, and Jack, Sam and Eli Mercer, sisters Marlene and Norma; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
