Virginia Bell Frasier Platt, August 29, 1933 — February 13, 2019

Virginia’s Obituary Virginia Bell Frasier Platt was born on August 29, 1933, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to Hoyt and Louise (Weir) Frasier. The family moved to Alabama, where she grew up; to be the oldest of 10 children. She loved to read and loved sewing for herself, her siblings and others.

She was an excellent student with a perfect attendance record every year of school. She graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class. She married Charles Platt on April 25, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia.

In the course of their married life they lived in several locations; their daughter Karen Jeanine Platt was born January 22, 1954, in Portsmouth, Ohio. That same year her son, Alan Dudley Platt was born on December 31, 1954, in Chillicothe, Ohio. In August 1958 they settled in Grants, New Mexico where they remained until moving to Chesapeake, Ohio, in October 1973.

Virginia was an avid Bible student along with her husband, Charlie. Together they were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses, on January 19, 1957. They remained faithful integrity keepers from that day forward.

She attended the 1958 International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New York, traveling by train from New Mexico with her husband and their two small children. She shared the Bible’s message with others for 62 years until her death on February 13, 2019, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia. She treasured memories of traveling and family camping trips throughout the United States and Canada.

She looked forward to family reunions and visits from family; including siblings who traveled to Huntington, West Virginia, in 2003, to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary. On April 25, 2013, she and Charlie were married 60 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Platt Timm on December 29, 1996, and her husband, Charles Platt on July 9, 2013; and in laws Roy McGee, Frank Smith, Richard Branda.

She is survived by her son Alan (Tammy) Platt; grandchildren: Molly (Jason) Dean, Alaisha (Jacell) Daniels, Elizabeth (William) Dean and Andrew Platt; great-grandchildren, Gavin Daniels, Ariana Daniels, Kais Daniels, Zoe Dean, and Jubilee Dean; siblings, Dorothy McGee, Carrie Smith, Hoyt (Barbara) Frasier, William Frasier, John Frasier, Patricia Branda, Margaret (Mike) Antler, Evelyn “Dusty” Alarid, Martha (Rick) Alarid; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In her later years she loved quilting and teaching quilting classes. She will be remembered by many friends and family as a “feisty lady!
