Virginia Bennion Ehlert, 96, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully May 25, 2018. Born May 7, 1922 in Vernal, Utah to Merrill Bennion and Geneva Lindsey Bennion. She married John Richard Ehlert on February 17, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple.

John and Virginia were blessed with 3 daughters and 3 sons. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities including Relief Society teacher, youth Sunday School teacher, gospel doctrine instructor, and Gleaner leader. She was an avid scholar of the gospel and loved to share her understanding and testimony with others.

She served with John for many years in the Salt Lake Temple. They also served together in the California San Diego Mission. She was well known for her amazing candy making, baking and wonderful meals.

She generously shared these skills with family, friends and neighbors. Family members will always remember gatherings at Grandma’s to celebrate all holidays and birthdays. They will also cherish the hand-made quilts she lovingly fashioned for each child and grandchild.

She is survived by her children, JoAnn (Jim) Spens, Janice (David) Larsen, Richard (JoDel) Ehlert, Paul (Cathy) Ehlert, Jack (Shellie) Ehlert, 31 grandchildren and 79 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 siblings, daughter Ruth (Steve) Jackson, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Millcreek Chapel, 3103 East Craig Drive, with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church.

Interment at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
