Virginia L. “Ginny” Woodward, 71, of Prospect St., Homer, passed away on May 1, 2019 at Winter Haven Hospital after battling a brief illness. Virginia was born October 4, 1947 in Cortland NY. She graduated from Homer High School.

She worked for many years at Smith Corona and then at Builders Best. She was a perfectionist at everything she did. She married the love of her life, Martin and they remained married for 53 years.

Her other love was her family and especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Matthew (Melanie) of Homer and Stephen (Tiffany) of Oswego. Her grandchildren, Mariah, Isabelle, Alexandria and Lincoln; a sister, Julie Sweet and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her mother, Lillian Gwilt; stepfather, Alvy Gwilt and a sister Lorretta Kilb. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church, 14 Copeland Ave. , Homer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev.

Paul Alciati. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a local Relay for Life team.
