Virginia Lee Alflen May 13, 1940 – May 18, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Virginia Lee Alflen, 79, of Centralia, KS, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. She was born May 13, 1940 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Charles and Lamonta (Williamson) Ellis. Virginia attended Raytown, MO schools and later earned her G.E.D. in Holton in 1976.

She was a Daycare Provider for many years and had also worked for NEK-CAP in Holton. Virginia enjoyed cake decorating and ceramics. She married Michael M. Alflen on December 6, 1958 in Kansas City, MO.

He preceded her in death on June 19, 2009. They celebrated over 50 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Lyman in 1993; a brother, J.W. Ellis and a sister, Sandra Brucken.

Survivors include a son, Jake Alflen of Alexander, AR; grandson, Lance Lyman (Leigh) of Tonganoxie, KS; 2 great-grandsons, Landon and Lukas Lyman; 2 sisters, Earline Hill of Larkinburg, KS and Patricia Brown of Garden Grove, CA and many nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Olive Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Virginia Alflen Memorial Fund (to be designated at a later date) payable to Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
