Virginia M. Ziegler, 89, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at Silver Cross-Friendship Manor, Rock Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Virginia at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 23, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Alleman High School, Jordan Catholic School, or St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island Virginia was born on May 20, 1929 in Moline, a daughter of Leo L. and Elsie H. (Pobanz) Long. She was raised in the Osco, Illinois area and married Joseph E. Ziegler on June 26, 1948. Early on, Ginny worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital as an Aide.

She later worked at THE Rock Island Bank in the Trust department. Ginny was solid in her faith and active in her church, St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island. She was a member of the Circle 4, St. Pius Sodality and she was the first manager after the opening of Farrell Hall at St. Pius X and Jordan Catholic School.

Ginny loved being with people and she met with a special group of her high school friends on the first Friday of every month. She greatly enjoyed all of the time she spent with her family and friends. Left to cherish Virginia’s memory are her husband, Joe; children, Gail (Rich) Parsons, Tim (Paula) Ziegler, Larry Ziegler, Connie (Paul) Vaughn and Mike (Laurie) Ziegler, all of Rock Island; 15 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; sisters, Lois Brokaw, Osco, Avis Cathcart, Moline; and many other loving family members and friends.
